APSAC is excited to announce the Call for Proposals for the 30th APSAC Colloquium to be held in Denver, CO, May 22-26, 2023.

APSAC's 30th Colloquium will bring high-quality learning opportunities to child maltreatment researchers and practitioners across experience levels and professions. Sessions will be designated as beginning, intermediate, or advanced level content. Note: Presenters are required to register for the Colloquium and will receive a discount.

APSAC is particularly interested in proposals training related to:

  • Child Torture and Trafficking

  • Children Exposed to Parental Conflict

  • Community Trauma-Resilience Awareness

  • Courtroom Processes and Procedures

  • Ending Corporal Punishment

  • Evidence Based Interventions for Trauma Treatment and Recovery

  • Forensic Interviewing of Children

  • Groundbreaking Research

  • Impact of COVID-19

  • Impact of Legalization of THC

  • Innovative Child Maltreatment Prevention Approaches

  • Institutional Violence Against Children

  • Intersection of Intimate Partner Violence and Child Welfare 

  • Mandated Reporting:  Trainings and Challenges

  • Office of Civil Rights Compliance

  • Parental drug use

  • Psychological Maltreatment 

  • Racist, Homophobic and other Targeted Violence Against Children

  • Refugee Families

  • Resilience and Protective Factors in Practice

  • Trauma Histories and Symptoms in Evaluation

 

APSAC also welcomes proposals on other topics related to child maltreatment.

Abstracts should be designed for professionals in mental health, social work, medicine and nursing, law, education, law enforcement, prevention, research, advocacy, child protective services, and allied fields.

Before you Begin:

Please have the following materials ready:

 

  • Biographical sketches and resumes/CVs for all presenters

  • Brief abstract (30 words or fewer)

  • Full abstract (200 words or fewer)     

  • Learning Objectives (at least three) 

  • References/Citations (5 or more within the last ten years)                                                                   

 

Abstracts may be accepted as training sessions (60, 90 minutes/3 hrs/6 hrs), information sessions (60 minutes), research sessions (30 minutes) or poster sessions.

You do not need to be a member of APSAC to submit an abstract. Be sure to have the following information handy when submitting your form:

  • Lead and co-presenter contact information

  • Curriculum vitae (or resumé)

  • Short presenter bio(s)

  • Session title

  • Description and abstract

  • Learning objectives

  • Supporting references/citations

The deadline is November 1, 2022.

 

 

Abstracts may be accepted for presentation types other than what was submitted.  Presenters will be given the opportunity to accept or decline that option.

*PLEASE NOTE: Correspondence regarding this abstract submission will be directed to the lead presenter.  Lead and co-presenters whose abstracts are accepted will receive a discount on the full conference registration fee.  All presenters are expected to attend the Colloquium in person.  APSAC does not pay any conference or travel expenses for presenters.  Presenters are responsible for their own travel arrangements.
