The YAPSAC Institute

June 8, 2020

New Orleans, LA

APSAC is proud to announce their 3rd Annual Student and Young Professional Career Development Institute at the APSAC Colloquium! This institute is designed for students and young professionals looking to advance their practice in child maltreatment. The day will include two panels - a panel of young professionals answering questions about beginning careers in child maltreatment and a panel of seasoned professionals providing advice on becoming an expert and getting hired by the experts. Roundtables will allow students and young professionals to speak directly with professionals working in social work, psychology, medicine, dentistry, law, public health, and learn more about their career experiences. Participants will also be able to bring copies of their resumes and/or CVs for expert review! The day will end with a fun networking event (location TBA), giving participants more opportunities to connect with speakers and one another in an informal setting.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will identify career options related to child maltreatment and/or child health and well and what a career trajectory might look like;

  2. Participants will meet with individuals in their disciplines of interest to discuss graduate school and career options in-depth.

  3. Participants will discuss what seasoned professionals in various disciplines and types of agencies look for in their hiring processes, developing skills in making resumes, CVs, and interviews stand out.
